What the Frick?

I received permission from my coworker Amanda (who also happens to read my blog ...Hi Amanda) to post this ridiculous story. We had a staff meeting today and afterwards our "team leader" asked Amanda to stay later. ("Team leader" is in quotes because team denotes some sort of bond between us which there isn't and leader implies, well, leading which there isn't). We all of course knew this meant she was getting in trouble.

Afterwards, the cool members of the team were going out to lunch (read: going for free Rita's Italian Ice and Free Dunkin' Donuts free coffee on the first day of spring) We get in the car and Amanda proceeds to tell of her ridiculous ordeal. We didn't even have to ask. The car started and Amanda says "so I guess everyone wants to know what I got in trouble for." Well, yes, we do, thank you.

Let me preface the rest of this story by saying we attended a conflict resolution course about a month ago and watched a video on addressing "personal problems" with employees. The person in the video actually said "the odor of your body sometimes tends to offend some people" which is the nice way to say "you have mad BO". Amanda was told that her language sometimes offends some people. Amanda sometimes says "frick" or "oh my God". Stuff like that. I also need to say that Amanda is in her early 20's so it's not like a 50 year old saying frick. At this point I would've turned to our "team leader" and said "what the hell is your frickin' problem?", but Amanda restrained herself. I'm so proud!

That's not the worst part of the story though. Our "team leader" suggested that they needed a signal so that she could let Amanda know when she is being "inappropriate". Ok, mom. If they are in the office Amanda has a picture Gary (the snail from Spongebob) on her computer. Our "team leader" will move the previously mentioned picture, so that if it is not on her computer Amanda (and now the rest of the cool people at the office and the blogosphere) will know she did something wrong. If they are out at an event or whatever and not in the office, our "team leader" will ask "Are you having lasagna for dinner?" directly after the offensive act to signal Amanda. No, I am not kidding. I can't make this shit up.

My Bracket

My bracket is ok. I didn't do so hot in the first round, but I only have one team out of my Sweet Sixteen and that was my big upset. However, I did not win one single one of the #8/#9 games. Is that possible? I mean just pulling them out of a hat I'd do better than that. Also, if Winthrop had been playing any other #6 seed besides Notre Dame, I probably would've picked Winthrop, but I had to go with Notre Dame because I didn't want the alumni club tracking me down and tearing me limb from limb.

Writing to Keep My Mind Off How Hungry I Am

Today I woke up to snow which makes me mad because two days ago I was walking around in capri pants. It also made me mad because I am supposed to have a program tonight but it wasn't enough snow to cancel school so I had the whole when do I cancel and how to get the word to people dilemma. I was so busy flicking from channel to channel checking the weather that I forgot to eat breakfast. I know your thinking to yourself, how does anyone forget breakfast? Well I do. This isn't the first time either. I'm not a big breakfast person to start. Around 10, the school district that the program is in decided to dismiss early so the program was cancelled and I had to do the whole call the schools, volunteers, TV stations, etc so that some idiot doesn't drive through a foot of snow and say "I didn't know it was cancelled".

The other dilemma came. Because I was working tonight, I had off this afternoon and could go watch ND basketball at 2:00. Then came a brilliant e-mail, the school district I live in is closing early so no matter whether the office is closing I can leave. I e-mail my "team leader" to tell her that I am leaving at 12 even though I am not having a program tonight and using snow time. She tells me I need to stay until Carmen comes so that someone is in my office. Carmen is one of the people I share my office with and she was scheduled to come in at 1:00. This pisses me off for two reasons 1). The other office in our department is right next door and there are two people there, so if someone should come in (which they're not because its a blizzard outside) they can simply walk next door. 2). The other office is always gone. No one is ever in that office (even though there is an unwritten rule about having at least one person in the office), but they never get anything said to them because the "team leader" is in that office.

Sorry to complain, but I'm just really really hungry right now. I work at the Girl Scouts and can't even find a box of cookies anywhere...is that ridiculous? I've drunk two glasses of water hoping to battle my hunger pains. I'm currently day dreaming about the grilled cheese sandwich I'm making myself when I get home.

I Love Parkside

Last night Danielle let me experience Parkside (the sketchy biker bar beside Hersheypark.) The two of us were by ourselves at a table for four. A guy came by and asked if he could use one of the chairs. We said sure and the guy plopped a $20 bill on our table for being so nice, so that we could buy a round for ourselves. We had actually been just about ready to leave, but who am I to turn down free drinks. Our two drinks were only $3.50 and we spent the rest of the night debating whether to/how to give the guy back his $16.50. He was with a whole group of friends who hadn't seen him give us the money and thought it would be weird for us to walk up and be like "here's your change." The guy left and we kept the money. What would you have done?

A Sign You Live In an Apartment Complex with Old People

An article in your complex newsletter is "Five Foods that Fight the Effects of Aging." In case you're curious, they're sunflower seeds, spinach and beans (I think that's two, but they counted that as one), grape juice, sweet potatoes, and cheese.

Another Notre Dame Post

Sorry non-ND people this post probably isn't going to make a lot of sense to you. I just received my alumni association e-mail newsletter and everytime I see a big story on Fr. Hesburgh, I can't help but think of Forrest Gump. Is that just me? I mean there's a picture of him with Mother Theresa and then one with Martin Luther King Jr. How can these pictures not remind you of Forrest Gump meeting all those famous people?

The Story Behind the Green Fudge

When I was in college, my mom used to send my roommates and I a large care package for St. Patrick's day. It had all sorts of weird green/Irish inspired candy. Including green licorice, green jelly beans, green gummy bears, some sort of candy that looked like potatoes but tasted like cinnamon, and most importantly green peppermint fudge. The fudge was scary at first but my friends found out they loved it and every year would come to my room to find out if the fudge had arrived yet. My mom bought it from a local department store which stopped making it...booo...and I hadn't really thought about it in a while. Until January, when my lovely former college roommate Marcia left me the following voice mail on my cell phone.

Marcia: Am I crazy or did your mom used to send us weird green mint fudge? Matt thinks I'm nuts. Call me.

I was at work so didn't get to call back for a couple of hours. When I called her back I got the following response when Marcia picked up the phone (even before hello).

Marcia: I already made it and its awesome.

I had Marcia send me the recipe which turned out to be a recipe for espresso toffee fudge which she had morphed because she's a genius. I made the fudge this weekend and she was right it is awesome. It didn't turn out as green as I wanted. It seems to be fading as it sets. I sent Marcia the following e-mail.

"Hey, you totally rock. I made the mint fudge and it rocks."

Her response e-mail.

"Duh"

I'm Sick

I'm sick and today while I was coughing/sneezing my head off I thought back to my Common Human Diseases class I took freshman year in college. I was reminded of the specifc lesson about how blowing your nose is dangerous because it could rupture the blood/brain barrier and allow germs to infect your brain and really mess some stuff up....it freaked me out. I knew I shouldn't have taken that class.

Popsicles in the Shower

I got back from the gym today and wanted to have a popsicle because I have a sore throat and being at the gym makes me want popsicles. I have a bunch of those push up kind in the clear plastic in my freezer so I pulled off a grape one. While I started eating, I started feeling sweaty and icky, so decided to take a shower. I figured I'd just take the popsicle in with me. In college my roommate Michelle used to like to drink beers in the shower because of the contrast between the cold beer and the warm shower. The popsicle in the shower was the bet thing ever!! I am totally doing it all the time now!

Enough Already!!

So I've had a crappy couple of days.

Friday I acquired a dent in my car in the exact spot that I just had fixed over Christmas break from a snow bank. Can you believe that? Snow dented my car.

Saturday I ripped off part of my finger nail and it gushed blood and hurt a crap load.

I don't think anything happened yesterday except that it was snowy and yucky out.

Today, I got a flat tire.

So I did what any girl that's having a bad day should do.

I bought shoes.

Actually I bought two pairs of shoes, a coat, a skirt, and green fudge. When I was in college whenever one of us was having a bad day, we would shop. Which is probably not the best way to deal with frustration but it worked. If we were lucky, the import store would be on campus and we could go talk to the scary import store lady about her fiance from Guatemala and her estranged husband that she used to sleep on a futon with and also leave with really cute jewelry made by little South American kids....I miss the scary import store lady.

It's About Time

My apartment complex finally got around to plowing my parking lot yesterday...only a week after the storm. I actually called to complain about it and they said it was their priority to get the sidewalks shoveled first. I said that's great, but when I have to traverse 15 feet of frozen tundra to get to my sidewalk, I could care less....I guess they listened. I also threatened they my 70 year old neighbor might slip and break her hip.

The Case of the Poisonous Peanut Butter

Doesn't that sound like an Encyclopedia Brown book? I used to love Encyclopedia Brown.

My mom: I had to throw out two jars of peanut butter that were in the lot that might have salmonella in it.
Me: Did grandma call you to tell you about that? (Side note: Back during the whole contaminated spinach episode my grandma called my mom to tell her not to eat spinach...I was left to fend for myself)
My mom: No, I read it in the paper.
Me: You read it in the paper?!?! (Side note: my mom avoids all type of news including TV, radio and newspaper.)
My mom: Luckily it was on the back of sports section.

And that's my mom for you!

My Newest Craft Project

My mom bought me a whole bunch of mosaic crafty stuff...because that's what my mom does. I tried to make this set of four coasters last weekend, but found out that the shitty kit didn't come with enough pink glass for four. I had to wait till I could go buy more pink glass (which was yesterday), but they came out ok.

Also today, not to be outdone by the guy that fell off the treadmill yesterday, Danielle got attacked by a balloon and has a huge gash on her forehead.

The Funniest Thing Since the Danielle/Recliner Incident
Last night at the gym I saw the funniest thing since the Danielle/recliner incident. It could've been tragic but luckily the guy wasn't hurt so I have a right to laugh about it. See the figures below. It's hard to make a stick figure running, so use your imagination.

I actually only saw Figures 2 and 3, so what actually happened in between figure 1 and 2 can only be left up to your imagination. After crashing against the fence (I'm not sure why there is a fence in my gym, but there is) the guy stepped back onto the sides of the treadmill (the treadmill was still moving) looked at it like it was posessed. Turned it off, put on his glasses and walked away. No one that worked at the gym actually cared to investigate what the banging and metal crunching sound was from.

I HATE SNOW

I thought I liked it because I've had off the past two days, but really I hate it. I guess it's really the mixture of ice and snow together that I hate. After spending two hours trying to dig my car out and get it backed out of a parking space. That time was full of spinning wheels, the smell of burning rubber and flying cardboard of death. Also, anyone that says to use kitty litter for traction is smoking crack. It just makes little bits of kitty litter fly at 20 miles per hour, and spraying whoever is not driving like shrapnel. Well the car is out now, and I feel somewhat satisfied and actually think I kinda enjoyed the process. Thanks Amanda for helping...and for drinko!

Since my message to the Harrisburg superintendent seemed to work, I'm sending out another message to someone. Dear inept apartment complex plow guy, I know you plowed the rest of my apartment complex, but in case you didn't notice, you forgot to plow my parking area. Get on that right away. Thanks.

Please, Please, Please

This message is to the superintendant of the Harrisburg Area School District....just go ahead and cancel school for tomorrow. You know you want to. All the school districts around you are closed as well as all the Catholic schools in Harrisburg. I know you are just doing this to toy with me and make me get up tomorrow at the usual time and watch the news only to see that it is closed and not be able to go back to sleep. I'm begging you. I like to sleep in.
YEAH, SNOW DAY!!!

Random Household Hint

Since living on my own, I have tried out several basic household tips. Some from my mom and some from the Internet. I've decided to share some of my favorites with you.

This one is more of a personal care thing. Mix a little baking soda with your shampoo before using it on your hair. I love this tip. I have a lot of hair and this makes it nice and shiny and soft. I'm hoping to Locks for Love about 10 inches of it as soon as I find a trustworthy hair dresser in the area.

Who's Wedding Is It Anyway

I really like the show Who's Wedding Is It Anyway on the Style Network. But this morning when I was watching, I knew the one couple that was getting married was not going to last. The bride was just too much of a bitch. The hair dresser that was supposed to help her called off the day before because she was such a bitch to him when they did the run through. I really want a follow up program like they do on some of the medical shows. At the end of the show, they sometimes say "Joe has fully recovered and enjoys spending time with his kids" or something like that. I want something that says "A year after their wedding, Matt cheated with his secretary and Lily burned all his clothes in the driveway."

Signing Day

Notre Dame landed a recruit named Golden Tate...how badass of a name is that!
Psychotic Thought of the Week

I know I haven't had one of these in a while but I had one yesterday so I had to post it. During my aquacise class, a guy was fixing the lights in the pool. I'm not talking about just changing a light bulb. The whole light apparatus was out of the pool with wires hanging down into the pool. Someone asked "you're sure that the breaker for those is turned off, right?" And I thought, I could be electricuted during my aquacise class and my wet lifeless body would be discovered in a swim suit....and not even a nice swim suit (cause it is aquacise after all). How horrifying would that be? Then I looked over at the 50 year old 300 pound woman beside me. I guess its all relative.

I Totally Rock at My Job

Today, at our staff meeting, we were informed that by April 1st, each of us needed to be 93% to goal. I decided to find out exactly what this meant for me. So after some basic math, I discover that as of today-February 7- I am at 93% to goal. I think I'll submit a request to have off the next two months since I completely rock!

A Message From the Marketing Major In Me

I love the Super Bowl. The sports fan in me loves the game and the marketing major in me loves the ads. Did anyone happen to catch the ad rankings in USA Today. That stupid ad with the crabs and the beer in the cooler got the best rankings. That's such crap!! There were so many ads that were better than that one. Any thoughts?

The Baby Shower, cont.

More news on the girl that I haven't seen since high school that invited me to her babyshower. Apparently, she has invited over 100 people including every woman that was at her wedding. If this isn't a ploy for free gifts, I don't know what is. I'm not going. I'll RSVP that I'm not going, but she won't get a gift from me.

We can finally stop hearing about how Peyton "can't win the big game"! Now its onto the inconsistency of Rex Grossman. Did anyone else see that Cirque de Soleil thing at pregame? What was that all about?

The Day Has Officially Come

I'm officially bored telling about my vacation. So here's a recap of the rest.

The next day we went to the beach where I decided that a law needed to be passed restricting certain types of people from wearing bikinis in public.

Women should not wear bikinis if:
A) They are over 3 months pregnant
B) weigh more than 175 lbs (can be a sliding scale based on height)
C) are over the age of 65
D) have had a recent major surgical procedure to the abdominal region leaving a discfiguring scar

Men should not wear speedos unless they are training to compete in a triathlon or other competitive swimming event.

We also rode the water rides that day and the world's only water elevator (not nearly as cool as it sounds).

That evening we went to dinner with my mom's cousin and my second cousin. I was dreading this because I have not a) gotten married, b) had a baby, c) been promtoed in the recent past. Luckily my second cousin is still "finding herself" with her third try at college...made me look like a real winner.

The next day we went to Lahaina to go shopping because my grandmother needed a gift for all 9 of her grandchildren (those are only the ones under 18). The lava rocks she had collected from the beach wasn't going to do, but apparently a deck of cards would...oohh...cards!

Then my dad and I went whale watching. We saw a competition pack of whales just beating the crap out of each other. Apparently some times the whales even lay on each others blow holes, so they can't breath. Ruthless!! However it mostly looked like a bunch of splashing.

Then we were heading into dock and we saw splashing out in the distance. We rushed out there and saw a mom and baby whale jumping. The mom would jump and then the baby whale would jump. Then the mom would tail slap and the baby would tail slap. This is a picture of the mom and baby whale waving to us.

The next day was more beach and nothing really happened except that I got a little sloshed at the open bar that evening. Like to the point where you can still walk and talk coherently, but your cheeks and fingertips are numb.

The next day we left which was another bucket of hell. We had a lay over in Kona and we got on the plane and taxied out and came back because some light said that the cargo area was open. It wasn't, but it took like an hour to check. The best part about it though was that my dad had taken a sleeping pill as soon as he was on the plane, so when all the stopping and starting was going on he was babbling incoherently and trying to kiss my mom. He also ate a thing of fig newtons which he would later not remember and kept staying "did I miss the snacks? why haven't they brought drinks yet? did I miss the snacks?"

We left Hawaii at 3:30 pm on Saturday and arrived in Harrisburg at 1:30 pm on Sunday. Bucket of hell!!

Day 3: The Road to Hana and a full day of complaining
We're in Hawaii. What could there possibly be to complain about? For my mom and grandmother...everything. Wake up and complain because the pillows are too fluffy. Go to breakfast and complain that the eggs are too runny. Get on the car and complain that its too hot and then a half hour later and complain that its too cold. Complain that there are no waterfalls because its too dry. Complain that the ham in the sandwiches you bought is too salty. Complain that you weren't paying attention at got wet on the black sand beach. Complain about the construction and the traffic. Complain because you've never gotten to go to the arboretum. Complain that we aren't going to get back in time to make it to the hospitality suite. Complain about the number of calories in the ice cream bar you just bought. Complain because my dad is driving too close to the edge of the cliff. Complain, complain, complain.

For anyone that doesn't know about the Road to Hana, its a 53 mile road full of 600 curves and 54 one lane bridges and usually takes 2 and a half to 3 hours to drive. It's full of pretty scenery and waterfalls and ends at Haleakala National Park and the Pools of Ohe'o. You get a CD that you play along the way and it tells you about things you're seeing, the history of Maui and local flora and fauna. At one point it was talking about eucalyptus and my grandmother says "oh yeah, I can smell it. Really strong...can't you smell it?" It didn't smell like eucalyptus at all. But my grandma also asked me at one point what ocean we were in. When I answered Pacific she said "It comes out this whole way?" OK, grandma, sure it smells like eucalyptus.

Also, there are normally a ton of waterfalls (most of the bridges go over them) along the way but apparently there hadn't been much rain lately. Every time we would go over a dried up or barely trickling waterfall, my mom would say "wow, look how dry it is" or "man, that's dry." Until after the 30th waterfall, I freaked out and said "OK, we get it...it's dry. You don't need to say it after every waterfall."

A little more than halfway through the drive, we ended up at the black sand beach and had lunch at the picnic tables there. Then we walked down to the beach. My mom and grandma had there backs to the ocean and totally got their legs soaked. (is it evil that I saw it coming and didn't say anything except to turn to my dad and say "watch this"? I think it is).

At one of the bigger waterfalls there were a bunch of vendors selling stuff. My grandma bought a woven basket made out of palm leaves...just what she needed. Can't wait to see where in her house she puts that wonderful piece of artistry.

We get to the Pools of Ohe'o and the National Park and my parents decided to do the 2 mile hike up to Waimoku waterfall and the bamboo forest. I've done it before. I passed. I didn't think its that great. Though my dad loves the bamboo forest. "After the Great Wall of China, the bamboo forest is the second greatest thing I've ever seen." Honestly, that's what he said. While they were doing that, my grandma and I stayed at the Pools of Ohe'o. And even though the water was cold, I went swimming in the water underneath the waterfall along with a bunch of hippies.

Then we found out we had to drive back the way we came instead of going the whole way around the end of the island...so we had to complain about that some more.

Day 2: The King and the Sea Turtle

I think some time I'm going to write a short story called "The King and the Sea Turtle" and its going to be about a mean king who becomes nice somehow with a sea turtle involved.

Anyway, back to the trip. When we arrived the night before, we saw down at the end of the hall a guy in a suit sitting on a chair outside the door of one of the rooms. My parents said there was a different guy there in the afternoon when they had arrived. Two people from the hotel had come to de-feather my parent's bed (my mom's allergic to feathers) and my dad asked one of them if that was a bodyguard at the end of the hall. "Yes, there's a king staying there," the guy answered. It had to be true because the lady with him gave him a dirty look like he wasn't supposed to tell us.

My dad was obsessed with the king and talked about it all day. (Example: I would ask: "Do you have any bottled water?" My dad would answer: "I'll go see if the King has any bottled water.") When we were on the beach, we saw the King out on his balcony. At least we are assuming it was the king, unless there was another man in a bathrobe in the King's room.

I woke up that morning at like 5 am and while I was bored waiting for everyone else to get up I was looking at all the hotel information and other tourist stuff while sitting out on the Lanai. They had aquacise!! So I called the fitness place to get details. 11:00 Aquacise in the Hibiscus pool and you don't have to pre-register. AWESOME!! Guess what...they never showed. I was pissed.

For breakfast, we went to the little hospitality suite for free breakfast and had really good granola with dried tropical fruit and macadamia nuts. Yummy.

We spent the day at the beach and just off the shore was a coral reef. It was by the point pictured above. My family has our own snorkel gear so it was really great for us. The only problem is that sometimes when the water was rough you felt like you were being pulled towards the jagged rocks...so that's a bad thing. My mom and dad and I went out to snorkel after lunch (we had lunch at this restaurant by the pool and my mom freaked out when she saw that the hamburger and fries was $17). It was pretty good snorkeling...really calm, clear water and colorful fish. At one point, I noticed my mom was kinda flailing so I looked up to see if she was ok...she was. When I looked back down in the water there was a sea turtle right below me. It was so cool and he didn't really care that we were there and was like two feet away. If you ask my dad, he claims that he rode the turtle. We also saw a snowflake eel which basically looked like a snake and was really creepy.

That's pretty much it for day two. We went back to the hospitality suite for dinner (hors d'eouvres) and an open bar. Woohoo!! Then we walked to some shops nearby and my knee was killing me anytime I would go up or down stairs. When I rubbed it, hoping to make it feel better, some stuff was moving around in there when I walked...so I guess I'll have to get that checked out.

Vacation Day 1: Travel from Hell

I decided that I will take you day by day through my vacation. Provided I don't become to bored with it, which is a big possibility.

First of all, i need to address that I am a really bad packer. This comes from my childhood...at least that's what I'm blaming it on. When I was little and we traveled, we never had the right clothing. If we packed shorts, it snowed. If we packed sweatshirts, it was a heat wave. This was back before the Internet when we had to rely on my dad's memory and he had no idea what he was talking about. Ever since then I pack for three climactic changes, and am always flirting with that 50 lb. weight limit.

So at 6am on Saturday, I packed up my heavy suitcase and drove over to Danielle's (whom you've already met) to go pick up my grandma and head to the airport.

I knew this whole day was not going to go well when we went to check in and my grandma's name of spelled wrong on her reservation (which my dad's company had made, and we didn't really look at before it came up on the check in kiosk). The airports don't really like when your reservation doesn't match your ID. So after being berated by the high and mighty airline counter guy, he finally gives my grandma a pass to get through security, but says "Whatever you do don't leave the airport in Chicago." OK, fine whatever.

We get up to the gate and our flight is delayed two hour because of snow in Chicago (thanks for telling us airline counter guy...ass). Well, that doesn't work with our 50 minute layover we have to make our connection to Hawaii. Being the savvy traveler that I am, I go to get us put on a later flight. Unfortunately, there is only one other flight that day to Maui, it's through San Francisco and it's currently full, but with all hell breaking loose currently in Chicago, some seats could open up. Either way, it's flashing through my mind that we're going to be stuck for the night somewhere and can't leave the airport because my grandma's boarding pass doesn't match her ID.

We actually take off from Harrisburg after only an hour delay...remember 50 minute layover. We get in exactly 4 minutes before our other flight is scheduled to take off. Luckily our gate is in the same concourse that we arrived. I walk at my normal pace (because my grandma is even then struggling to keep up) to the gate...door's closed. "Please let us on!!" I give my best pitiful face and they open the door. As I'm getting on the plane, I get yelled at for being unsafe by the pilot because my shoelace is untied.

Whew!! We made it. Then we proceed to sit for a half hour while they de-ice the plane...twice. The first formula they used wasn't strong enough. We taxi out and then stop and taxi back in. The engine de-icer valve is stuck. An hour later, it's fixed. Oh, but we have to de-ice the plane again because it's been too long since the first time we did it. Another half hour later, we take off for our 8 and a half hour flight. We watch 4 movies during it and an episode of the Office. That's a long flight!!

Finally we arrive in Maui and all of our luggage is there and everything. Also, that evening I discovered that my grandmother (who I was sharing a room with) snores like an elephant seal. Seriously, the loudest snore I have ever heard in my life. It woke me up in the middle of the night every night of our vacation and once it was so annoying that I ended up on the couch in my parents' room.
I'm Ba-ack

I hope you all enjoyed Danielle's random babbling. I have lots of fun stories from Hawaii for you, but I'm too tired right now (I left Hawaii at 3:30 pm yesterday and got in at 1:00 pm today). Did I mention that I sleep on my stomach and that is nearly impossible on a plane? Also, I can't sleep with things on my feet, but it was freezing down by my feet and that posed another problem. I actually just woke up from a nap about an hour ago and now I have to go to work because I was stupid and was like that meeting isn't till 7pm...I can totally do that. GRRR

So long, farewell....

Well my friends my tenure as a guest blogger is coming to an end. Tomorrow morning my mom is going to the airport to pick up my dear friend jsto and her grandma. At least hopefully in the morning. My poor friend has the worst time with traveling. Even her flights to Maui got all kinds of messed up. But I'll let her tell you all about that when she gets back, that is if she wants to relive it all.

I know I promised you guys some fun drunk stories from my company formal and don't worry, I won't disappoint. First off, my boss and I decided to get a room at the convention center where our formal was being held mainly so we could get drunk off our ass and not have to worry about getting home. And can I say, it is very odd to stay at a hotel that is only 5 minutes away from your home. People kept asking where we were from and we had to say, um....here. We plan on getting drunk tonight and we don't want to drive home so we're shoveling out $70 for a room. Yes we are alcoholics, how did you know? Okay so maybe I'm exaggerating but not much.

Anyways at the formal I started drunk-chatting with one of our "Area Managers". He is new to the company (he started this summer) and so we don't know too much about him. We thought that he may be gay (He does after all work in a department notorious for having gay managers. We may think it is a prerequisite). So last night he brought a "friend". While chatting I mentioned how my boss (who is female) and I got a room together. But not to worry, we got two beds. And then for some reason, I told him that I like penises. He whispered to me, I do too! So I guess he is gay. Not sure if he wanted to come out or not but he did. His date was very nice and friendly and we were best friends by the end of the night.

Other than that, the rest of the night was the typical crazy drunk behavior: hugging and kissing random people, grabbing butts, sitting on my friend's boyfriend's lap, and dancing like a fool. Basically I had a blast until I got to the room (no idea how I managed that) and puked all over the bathroom. Oh well. Such is life.

Well as they say, all good things must come to an end and I think it is now time to say goodbye. I've had a blast this week and I hope you enjoyed my ramblings. This is Danielle, signing off.

No twinkies please...

So after working at the same place for several years with the same people, you start to run out of things to talk about. My boss got a rather large snack-cake which somehow became the topic of conversation. This somehow led to twinkies. I mentioned that I had never had a twinkie before. My boss then insisted that I was lying, which I am not. After finally believing me he insisted that I try one. And honestly, I'm afraid to eat one. I don't know why but I just am. I never, ever want to eat one. He is threatening to buy me one and make me eat it and quite frankly the thought of eating one just makes me sick. I know, I'm weird.

P.S. Tomorrow night the company I work for is hosting a formal dinner complete with open bar. I completely intend on getting completely hammered and if you're lucky you'll get to hear all about it. Last year, I drunk danced (more like wobbled) with a gay guy (who was also drunk)during the final dance. We were the only ones who were dancing fast. I wonder why...

De Nile is not just a river...

Hello all, it's Danielle again with a fun little story for ya. It's a young man's coming of age story and his grandmother's complete denial of who he really is.

Dear sweet Chance (name has been changed to protect the innocent) usually spent his summers at his grandma's house, who is my neighbor. Since Chance was only 2 years younger than I, we used to spend our days together swimming in my pool, playing with Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head, and....playing Barbie. That's right, Chance LOVED playing Barbie and not in the stereotypical "rip their heads off/cut off all their hair" kind of way. The way most normal boys play Barbie. No, Chance loved styling his Barbies' hair and dressing them up. He loved Barbies so much that grandma, being the supportive lady that she is, bought Chance his very own Barbies (and Ken) and even made clothes for them. What a lucky guy! He used to yell at me and tell me that I wasn't dressing my Barbies properly and that the outfits I put together weren't "right".

Like I said above, we also played Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head. Like most kids, we put the hats on our own heads, the lips in our mouth, and stretched the glasses to fit on our big heads. He always was Mrs. Potato Head. Purse and all. I have pictures.

Chance went off to college and studied...Art. He is now an Art teacher at a local school. He chaperoned a school dance and got all decked out in a nice, fancy PURPLE suit. He's made real good friends with all of his female co-workers.

Recently he stopped over at his grandma's carrying a big purse-like black bag. All of a sudden, the bag began to bark. He reached in and pulled out a small, little black dog. One of those 'le femme' yappy dogs. He then procedes to tell grandma that this is the only grandchild he will give her.

Her response? I don't understand...Chance loves kids. Ah the pure, delusional mind of a grandmother.

While the cats are away, the mice will play...

That's right my friends, while my dear pal jsto (which may I point out is a kinda dumb name) is on a lovely vay-kay in Hawaii she has decided, against her better judgement, to let me be a very special guest blogger. Lucky you! And for those of you who are scared that I somehow hacked into her blog, I'm totally legit. She gave me her password and everything. So anyways, I figure for my first blog I'll tell you a little bit about myself.

My name is Danielle, of Winnie the Pooh balloon fame. Miss jsto and I have been pals for awhile now, we played soccer together when we were around 7 or 8 years old. We hung out some in middle and high school, including some fun trips to the Outer Banks. However, we didn't really become friends until we went away to our respective colleges which were 3 states apart. Weird I know. We have a complex friendship wherein we try to piss each other off whenever possible. It's pretty fun!

I graduated from good old Penn State a few years ago and have been pretty much a bum ever since. I work a crappy job that barely pays the bills and I still live at home with my mom. How cool am I? I have a new car named Sally which I love to death, even if she is sucking away all of my money. I have a huge crush on a man 10 years older than I am and we are both too retarded to really do anything about it. We have gone out on a kinda sorta date but not too much has been happening lately. I love Bon Jovi, pineapple pizza, lemon based sodas and I have a sick obsession with John Corbett. And that's pretty much me in a nutshell. If you have any other fun questions about me or my friend jsto give me a holla and I'll give you all the juicy gossip. Til next time....

Danielle

ALOHA!!

I'm off to a week in sunny Maui. But first a 9 hour plane ride in the middle of the day with my grandma...grrr... See you when I get back!

Wardrobe Malfunction

Aubrey: (while looking at my Pooh balloon, which is still very much afloat, and trying to stall her flute lesson) "Winnie the Pooh is inappropriate for children"

Me: "Why?"

Aubrey: "His stomach is showing out from under his shirt and in real life he doesn't have any pants."

Ahhh...the future of America. Can't wait till they start censoring cartoons for not wearing any pants!
My Cousin's Career Advice

I think I already told you I've been teaching my 5th grade cousin flute while she finds a new teacher. (She made county band...very serious stuff). Anyway, last night she called to see if she could come tonight because I'm on vacation Monday and will miss her typical lesson. She had what she thought was a great idea for me.

"You should give flute lessons all the time. You can put a sign on your door 'flute lessons $20' and knock out where your washer and dryer is to put in a little store and sell pencils and erasers and music and stuff."

Guess this farce of a flute lesson I've been giving has convinced someone.

My Fab Pedicure

Look at my pretty toes. It's La Paz-itively pink along with some other sparkly color on top. She even plucked the little hairs off of my big toe. My feet are now vacation ready!
Baby Shower Etiquette

Yesterday, I received an invitation to a baby shower for a girl that I honestly haven't seen since high school and really wasn't that close to in high school. Though a wonderful friend of my alerted her that I was back in the area (thanks danielle...jackass). The baby shower isn't until March 31 so I have some time to think about this. So two questions.

1) Do I go? This is probably most dependant on if Danielle goes, because if she goes then we can be miserable together and then make fun of the whole ordeal later.

2) If I don't go, do I still need to get her a gift or can I continue to ignore her like I have for the past 7 years?

A Waste of My Time?

Today I spent part of my time at work taking small paperclips off of travel reports and replacing them with big paperclips because my boss doesn't like small paperclips.

How cool was it when Jack Bauer bit that guy in the neck!!

Check Out This Blog

Mimi Smartypants is one of my new favorite blogs. I used to read it while I was at work, but had to stop because it made me laugh out loud too much and when people would ask what I was laughing at it was usually inappropriate to share in a work environment.

Reader's Poll

You know how in those magazines like US they have polls on whether you like how Reese Witherspoon looked then or now. Here's my own.

Matt Carroll: Notre Dame guard and guy that got in trouble for eating in class

Matt Carroll: Charlotte Bobcats guard

(On an aside for Notre Dame people--actually probably mostly Farleyites too. What do you think the combined currently salary of Anna Morales' former boyfriends is? I mean she dated Matt Carroll and Julius Jones. Anyone else?)
It's a Christmas Miracle!!

Ok, so maybe it's a little late for that...It's a Martin Luther King Day Miracle! My vacation finally got ok'ed. Let's see. I turned it in on October 11th. I'm going away for five days on January 22nd and it gets approved on January 10th. Nothing wrong with that at all!

I Guess You Really Should Listen to Directions

I know candles always say don't burn the whole way to the bottom, but I never listened to it before. Yesterday, I was burning a candle and not really paying attention. All of the sudden I heard a loud cracking/glass shattering noise. The worst part was the candle wasn't out yet, and it was sitting up on my bureau so I couldn't blow down in it. I didn't want to pick it up to put it out because I knew it would be hot and also didn't want the glass to shatter more in my hand. Being the quick thinker that I am I poured some water down in the glass to extinguish the candle. Luckily, the bottom hadn't cracked at all so the water didn't ruin the finish on my furniture like I worried it would. Crazy isn't it?
Why I Love Danielle

Danielle: Sorry to interrupt your basketball game {she had wanted me to go to borders with her earlier, but I had told her I couldn't because I was watching ND b-ball on tv}, but I had to call and tell you.

Me: {not really listening} uh-huh

Danielle: I'm taking my wallpaper off and it's soooo cool. You know how when your skin peels you can pull it off? It's like that but in bigger pieces.

Me: And with out the grossness of it being your skin.

Danielle: Yeah...it's totally cool!!

My First Flute Lesson

Today I taught my first flute lesson to my cousin Aubrey. After working through the fact that I don't have a music stand and I haven't played the flute in 7 years, the lesson went well. I'm not going to quit my day job though.

Blog Vacation

I'm going on vacation in a couple of weeks and I've been thinking of having a guest blogger(s) while I'm away. I've decided that this could either be really great or a complete disaster. Any thoughts??

SUCK IT, BOB DAVIE!!!

Dear Bob,

In response to the recent comments you made in regards to Notre Dame and Charlie Weis, SHUT YOUR PIE HOLE (unless of course its to drink another diet coke that you used to have your managers tote around for you).

No, the loss to a overrated Oregan State team in the Fiesta Bowl did not get you fired. Being a consistently bad coach and an arrogant prick did. (Note: add perverted there as well...remember your play call signals? That should not be the hand signal for "hard" especially in mixed company.)

Yes, we lost this year to the currently #3, 4, and 5 teams in the country. But we didn't lose to Michigan State 5 years in a row or constantly barely edge out Navy and for that matter lose to Airforce. And I seem to recall a Boston College game where I was routing for a squirrel because he was the only thing from South Bend on the field that might have an opportunity to score a touchdown...not to mention he was probably a better field goal kicker than Samson.

Coach Weis also did not say that the Notre Dame mystique doesn't exist (as you did) nor is his every other word "appreciate". He also has much better time management skills (see the UCLA game this year versus whatever game that was when you were able to drive down to the 5 yard line and run out of time while our players stood around looking confused). He also has spiced up the playbook a little bit. Sorry, Bob, running anything but Julius Jones up the middle on first down does not count as a trick play. At least you have YSU's 2000 Penguin of the Year to put on your resume.

Hey, by the way, what's Lovecchio doing now...I think he just did some body work on my car the other day...that worked out well for ya didn't it?

Sincerly,
JSto

My New Bracelet

This is my new bracelet that I bought yesterday for $2 at A.C. Moore. I got one for my mom too (shh...don't tell). Unfortunately since the football team lost yesterday, I can never wear it again because its bad luck. Although, the basketball team won even without their pot smoking point guard, so I guess I can still wear it sometimes.

New Year's

This was a very traditional Pennsylvania New Year's for me. Every little town has its own "drop" on New Year's eve. Like how New York City drops the big lit ball. Danielle and I have been working our way from town to town to experience the different celebrations. So far we've done the Goat Drop in Fowlmouth and the Pickle Drop in Dillsburg. This year it was on to the Bologna drop in Lebanon. We had to overcome inclement weather and Danielle's bizarre fear of Lebanon, but we crossed it off our list. When I say bologna, it's not the Oscar Mayer bologna that most people think of. It's Lebanon bologna and unless you are from Pennsylvania, you probably have no idea what I'm talking about. The bologna that was actually being dropped was 7 feet long and was supported in a wooden cage that dangled from a fireman's ladder. (I had originally posted a picture of it, but then thought it was too dark and you couldn't see what it was anyway). There were lots of interesting people at the big event. I had a fried bologna sandwich but skipped the "free bologna samples" which was basically a bag of chunks of bologna with people sticking their grubby paws in and taking as many as they can. Disgusting!!

New Year's day, I was cooking at my apartment for my mom, dad and grandma. So after watching the Penn State game, everyone came over for the traditional Pennsylvania Dutch meal--pork and sauerkraut. It's good luck to have pork and sauerkraut for New Year's and I believe it. In 2001, we skipped the meal and I had a crappy year.

For my New Year's Resolution, I've decided to take a holistic approach and will do one good thing for each my mind, body and spirit every day.
Birthday, the Follow Up

So my birthday turned out to be great. Going in with low expectations really worked. Here's a picture of the giant singing Pooh balloon that was mentioned in previous comments. For those of you that don't know, I hate Winnie the Pooh. He's so fat and cheery and stupid. This balloon sings when you hit it. Pooh says something about hugs then sings a really gay version of Happy Birthday and finally ends with "Happy Birthday Friend" Thanks Danielle.

The cake surprise was a giant chocolate with peanut butter chip cookie and peanut butter icing from Chocolate World. Extremely yummy and specially made just for me!! (They don't normally do chocolate with peanut butter.)

Then my cousins invited me to go see Charlotte's Web with them. So I did. Stay posted for New Year's Bologna Drop highlights.

Today Is My Birthday

I have to admit my birthdays have always been a little disappointing after all the fanfare of Christmas. I guess who am I to complain since I've always had off work/school. Even when I was little my birthday party was actually held on New Year's Eve (which is why Danielle is so confused to this day about when my birthday actually is), so Dec. 30th was nothing special. Last year I didn't even get to pick where we went to eat because my dad was being a spoiled little brat and one year we were traveling and my mom forgot to bring my present.

This year I've decided that my birthday is just going to be a day where I do whatever I want. So far this morning, I've slept in, eaten a large bowl of cherries for breakfast, and watched two hours of Murder She Wrote from my bed. I'm then going with my parents to Friendly's (one of my favorite restaurants since childhood) where I'm going to have an orange soda, mozzarella sticks, and a peanut butter sundae for lunch. After that I'm going to lounge around all day in my comfiest clothes and possibly watch one of my favorite movies or play one of my favorite games and possibly drink wine coolers or martinis. My mom's making my favorite dinner and then there is some big surprise about the cake (so we'll see). I'll let you know how my plan works out.

It's Finally Done!

After many bottles of wine and pilfered corks, the board is finally done. Though, it's been discovered that there is no hanging apparatus on the back, so I'll have to work on that.

Giraffe fun foam door hanger kit: $1.99
Wrapping Paper: $2.98
Digital camera with record feature: $225

Watching Danielle and bitch and moan as she tries to put the door hanger together and recording it so that I can watch it over and over again: Priceless

Calendarial Drift

Has anyone else noticed that days in the calendar keep moving earlier? Here's my example: people are putting up Christmas decorations at Halloween, sending out Christmas cards at Thanksgiving and now stores are having after Christmas sales the week before Christmas!! I feel like I need to get some Valentine's already just to keep pace.

What the Hell am I Going to Do with This?

People in my department give each other small gifts for Christmas. Some people gave out ornaments, one lady made fudge and another person gave small candles. Then we have the woman who on the side sells stuff on E-bay and has a booth at the local flea market. She gave out envelopes with a commemorative stamp on it for scout leader's day or something. First I opened up the envelope expecting something to be in it-Nada. Then I realize it's supposed to be collectible (yeah, right.) Also notice the stamp is smudged. I was the only person with a smudged stamp...guess that let's me know where I rank on her totem pole. So my question is what do I do with this envelope. Kerri suggested pulling the stamp off of it and at least get 39 cents worth.

Gettysburg

Today I took Kerri to see Gettysburg. I had last seen Gettysburg approximately 11 years ago. After today, I'm good for another 11 years at least. Battlefields are definitely not my thing. I don't care who flanked who and who's artillery was lined up on which ridge. It's all a bunch of fields and hills with stone monuments. I know that Lee was Confederate and Meade was Union but the rest I have no idea. In the end the Union kicked Confederate ass.

Things that Annoy Me

People that bring those Peanut Butter Kiss Cookies to cookie/recipe exchanges. Come on, everyone makes those. Do something original or at least a little more Christmasy. Don't waste my time. (I don't know why there is a quarter sitting on the plate in this picture. I just found a random picture)

This Story Is Great!!

Picture a drunken camel and it will certainly make you laugh. Now picture him with a leprechaun hat on.
I Hate Airlines

Kerri was supposed to get in last night at 9:30 pm, but instead ending up arriving at 12:23 am. When we paid the parking attendant at the garage he said "Have a good morning" and I groaned. Although, my friend Amanda says its me and not the airlines. Whenever someone is coming a distance to visit me (no matter where I'm living) they seem to have some difficulty. And it's not just plane trouble, but this also includes car trouble and train trouble...go figure.

Freaking Out a Little Bit

So last week, my boss denied a coworker's vacation time for next week unless she scheduled 15 recruitments in January (a complete insane and undoable request), and she actually loses those vacation days if she doesn't get to use them. I wasn't that worried because her areas are kind of a mess. I have a vacation request in for January (when I'm going to Hawaii). I turned it in in October, but it hasn't been approved yet and now today I was told that I need more recruitments in January...it wasn't mentioned whether or not this had a direct relation to my vacation being approved or not, but it kinda sucks ass. I asked when exactly I was supposed to schedule these since I'm gone the entire third week, busy the second week and it would not be possible the first week. I was told to schedule them while I'm on vacation and have one of my coworkers cover it....they're going to love that. So if I can pull this off, it will be unbelievable and I should be considered a goddess at the office...should be, but won't.

I Need Another Weekend...Now

Did you ever feel like you could use another weekend after your weekend? That's how I feel right now. This weekend was my prepare for Kerri's visit/Christmas weekend. It was filled with cleaning and baking, but I got most everything that I had planned to do done. My bedroom still looks like a train wreck, but hopefully I'll get to that before Kerri gets here, but if not...well, that's one of the reasons I have a door on my bedroom. I'm exhausted!! How am I ever going to make it through work this week??

Birthday Ideas?

My birthday is coming up right after Christmas, and I am looking for something fun that I can do with my friends for my birthday. I'm not much of a bar/club person, so obviously for my birthday that is not what I would pick to do. Anyone have any fun ideas?

The Gift Exchange

Tonight for a Christmas party, I had to bring a gift for a gift exchange. You know the type. Bring a $5-$7 gift for a gift exchange game. Except this time there was a catch...it had to be outdoor/nature themed. Great ::said sarcastically:: So I brought a solid chocolate tree because who doesn't like chocolate. I get back...a compass. Don't get me wrong, it's a really nice compass. It has a carabineer that you can attach it to stuff and a pocket knife in the end of it, but when the hell am I going to use a compass?

Three Down, Three to Go

Well, I'm halfway through my Christmas party marathon and it really hasn't been that bad. Except for when I hit my low point when my sugar cookie dough kept sticking to my counter. Here's a run down of my culinary creations:

Last Saturday's Tree Trim: a dozen peanut butter cookies (it's was just for kids, so I didn't really need to make anything too exciting)

Last Sunday's Party: six dozen sugar cookies (never again) and spinach artichoke dip

This evening's party: Crab Rangoons (see picture...thanks kraftfoods.com)

Thursday's party: Lime Bavarian

Saturday's party: food item yet to be assigned

Next Thursday's party: 3 dozen half moon cookies and another dessert (possibly a jello cake)

I think I've cooked more in this past week than I have the entire year.

Things that Annoy Me

Doctors who go to the gym and talk on their cell phones while riding the bikes. As if that wasn't bad enough, he also referred to how "knocking off" an infant was worse than "knocking off" an 85 year old geezer. There's was also some discussion about how bad non-US born doctors are, but I didn't get that whole conversation. Can we be a little more unprofessional?

Kerri is coming!!

My friend Kerri is coming to visit me in two weeks. I'm really excited. Kerri was a cashier at the Hall of Fame. Last weekend she called me and said "hey what are you doing the weekend before Christmas? I want to come visit." I'm like "sure, sounds great"...because realistically everyone says they're coming to visit and no one does and since Kerri is in South Bend, there was no shot of her coming. Right?

Yesterday, she called and said "I have my plane tickets and will be in Harrisburg on Dec. 14th" Now I'm really stressed out about it because if you haven't heard yet I have 6 Christmas parties to attend in the next two weeks and am supposed to bring something to every one of them (like the party on Sunday that I need to bring 6 dozen cookies and an appetizer to). Because of this my apartment is a disaster. I have groceries in different piles by what recipe I'm using them for all over my living room. Not to mention when am I going to have time to buy/make/wrap the presents I bought for Christmas. AND when am I going to research all the cool places that Kerri and I are going to go. AND laundry/dishes/cleaning/eating/sleeping/watching Prison Break/annoying Danielle/working. Luckily I am not decorating this year. The old people in the neighborhood do enough of that for all of us.

ok, deep breath, I'm ok now...did I mention since I got off the hook for cooking Thanksgiving, I've now been assigned New Years.
YAY, Global Warming!!

It's December 1st and I wore a short sleeved shirt and no coat to work this morning in Pennsylvania. WOOHOO!!

Any Guesses?

Danielle and I saw a vanity license plate in the Wal-mart parking lot and can't figure out what it would stand for. JYLBABY Any ideas? Our only guess was Jail Baby, but that doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

Look at my exciting new skirt. Isn't it so cute! I love it. She's also starting to sell them so if you want one, contact her quickly because I'm sure her time is going to fill up.

Things that Annoy Me

ABC's coverage of college football stinks. And I'm not just in a bad mood because ND lost. Seriously, how many poor camera angles can we get. Not to mention missing a complete play because we're showing the coaches sitting in the press box. Can somebody please turn the volume on the crowd noise down a little bit? We can't even hear the announcers. Not that I particularly want to hear the stupid comments they're making, but if I hear the USC song one more time I'm going to go postal.

I Don't Understand

I apologize if you are one of these people. Today at the mall I noticed a lot of women wearing 4 inch heels. I don't understand that. My feet hurt enough and I had sneakers on. I've never had a pair of high heels comfortable enough that I'd have wanted to wear them to the mall. I don't get it. I know you want to look good at the mall, but then when you can't walk the next day, it's your own fault.

The Stupid Thing that I Did Yesterday

I sprayed hair spray on myself like it was body spray. Same shape bottle sitting next to my body spray on my dresser, just picked it up and spritzed away until I realized I was starting to feel sticky.

My Parents' Anniversary

My parents drive to Pennsylvania on Tuesday and their anniversary is on Wednesday. My grandma is having a little surprise anniversary get together on Tuesday night. This is what I got them. It's a slate wall hanging and Amanda's mom painted it. I like it.

Double Rainbow

Yesterday on my drive up to State College, I nearly crashed the car when Danielle pointed out a double rainbow. This picture is from a local news station, not one I took while driving. Danielle also said that you could see the rainbow arch over to the other side which I have never seen. I couldn't see the arch because of the car roof. It was one of the coolest things I've seen. Also, I didn't realize until I read about it later that the colors in the double rainbow are reversed.
Shopping Craziness

A bunch of the outlet malls around where I live are opening at midnight on Black Friday. That's for crazy people! And yet, I kinda want to go. Shopping a midnight (not at Wal-mart) is a little intriguing to me.

My Newest Artistic Endeavor

This is the new candle I made. Unfortunately it cracked when I went to do the other side, so I guess I'll have to keep that one. I have two other ones that I'm hoping to use as my "crafty/unique item" for my company Christmas party.

Colorful Wedding

This girl in my office just got engaged. She hasn't picked a date yet, but already knows the color for her wedding. Are you ready? Burnt orange. I'm not sure how I feel about this. I've never been to a burnt orange wedding. Do they even make bridesmaid dresses in burnt orange?

Saw III

I went to see Saw III on Saturday which could quite possibly be the grossest movie I've ever seen. Though, I really didn't see most of it since I either a) had my eyes closed, b) had my eyes covered with my hands or c) was looking at Danielle and laughing while she tried to cover both her eyes and ears with her hands. Though I did happen to mistakenly look at some wrong times (when the guys arms were being twisted off his body). So I think I saw enough to say, it was horribly disgustingly gross. Since I saw the first two and fully knew what to expect, I can only blame myself. Can't wait for Saw IV!!

The Sleepover

Last night was my scary movie sleepover with my cousins, Molly and Aubrey. (Sandi was unfortunately sick). As you can see, Molly went a little overboard with her ice cream sundae. We watched several scary movies. When A Stranger Calls was probably the scariest, but the one that seemed to cause the most nightmares was The Village (as Aubrey woke me up 4 times during the night/very early morning)!

I'm Watching the Notre Dame Game on Saturday, Are You?

Yes, the crisis has been averted. Thanks to my lovely friend Amanda who has Direct TV and recently agreed to go halves with me to get the Sport Package for a month (including CSTV), I will be watching the Notre Dame game and it will only have cost me $5.50. WOOHOO!!!

Apparently there is mass hysteria in South Bend over the fact that the Notre Dame game isn't nationally televised.

My Work Christmas Party

My Christmas Party at work is really causing me to think too much. First, I was asked to submit a "secret" about myself that is something no one else at the office would be able to guess. It's for some stupid game. Still haven't submitted that.

Now they've requested that we donate a "unique item or craft" for a silent auction. And I'm going to bring what exactly?

Things That Annoy Me

Girl's Night Out

Tomorrow is my first major event at my new job. It's called "Girl's Night Out" and its for elementary school girls. The pictures are of two of the crafts that I created for the event. The stuff in the jar is peppermint scented bath salts and the other thing is a Thanksgiving card.

I had a dream last night about the event. I locked all my supplies in a room and had to do the program with like 30 kids running around. So i'm not sure what that means.
I'm a Little Disappointed

I expected a little Halloween treat from my old lady downstairs, but I didn't get anything. Doesn't that seem like an old ladyish type thing to do?
