Psychotic Thought of the Week
You know how on Iron Chef America they sometimes take stuff out of the oven and immediately plunge it into an ice bath in order to "stop the cooking process." Well does that work for people too? Like if I'm at the beach and see myself getting burnt, but jump into a big vat of ice water does it stop the cooking process?

I honestly think that a) lowering your temperature and b) moisturizing will "stop the cooking process" and keep you from getting really fried if you notice you're getting burnt.
But mostly it's the moisturizer.
You're actually closer than you think. I find that when I take a lukewarm/cool shower after getting fried, it helps the pain of the burn A LOT.
However, if you're still on the beach (and presumably, still in the sun) it probably wouldn't help much. Water's actually worse for sunburns than air.
Moral of the story: USE SUNBLOCK!
