Yesterday my Office Closed Because of Rain?
I'm still not completely sure what happened. Yesterday morning we were getting a "wintry mix" of freezing rain, sleet and regular rain, but alas no one called and said don't come in, so I had to go. I did ponder that my boss was just dicking with my department and would proudly announce when we all showed up "look how dedicated my workers are. They all showed up even though the office was closed!" which is totally something she would do. Anyway, I went out and my car was completely incased in ice. Like if a caveman had a Honda Accord that was suddenly discovered floating in a glacier that's what my car looked like yesterday. So I go and other people are there as well so apparently the office is open. The whole day then it rains and all the ice that was on cars and trees melts and everything is fine. Then around 2:00, we get an e-mail from the COO saying "the offices will be closed in the afternoon due to bad weather. Drive safely." WOOHOO. My manager was really bitter about the whole thing and came over and mumbled "didya see the e-mail?" I wasn't really sure what to do. It didn't look bad out, but maybe it was worse out than I could see from my foot wide window. We do have offices all over the state, so maybe there was bad weather near one of them, but the COO was in Harrisburg. I know because she was in the office across from me when the e-mail went out and I looked over and gave her an endearing smile. So who am I to argue? Especially since we really don't have a snow policy in effect and I'm not sure whether we get paid for it or not, there was no way I was staying. I went home. Put on my pajamas and then in about two hours went to the gym. One of the roads was closed because of flooding, but other than that everything was fine. I'm still kinda clueless as to what exactly happened.
